Professor Kuznetsov is a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences since 2011 and a deputy director of the Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO) since 2013 ( He is also the head of IMEMO Center for European Studies and professor at MGIMO-University since 2009.

Professor Kuznetsov is a specialist in Russian foreign economic relations, FDI and MNEs, post-Soviet integration, EU economy and regional economic policy. He wrote several books and 150 articles in Russian and English ( and He graduated from the geographical faculty of the Lomonosov Moscow State University (summa cum laude) and received his Ph.D. and Dr.Sc. (Economics) from IMEMO. He awarded the Russian Academy of Sciences medal for his book “Internationalization of Russian economy: an investment aspect” in 2007 and the Russian President Honorary Diploma for merits in scientific activities in 2017.

Professor Kuznetsov is the team-leader of several Russian and international projects, including “Optimization of Russian External Investment Connections under the Deterioration of Relations with the EU” (under support of the Russian Science Foundation, 2014-2018), “Monitoring and Analysis of Investments in the CIS and Eurasia (under support of the Eurasian Development Bank, 2011-2017) and Russian part of EMGP program (since 2009). He is a member of the Scientific Council of the Russian Geographical Society and boards of the Association of European Studies in Russia and the Russian New Economic Association.
